Pelham Road Child Development Center

Our Mission

Children are the focus of the CDC through nurturing routine care, education, safety, cleanliness, nutrition, and love. We maintain low staff to child ratios which allows for individualized attention and helps foster strong bonds between teachers and children. DHEC regulations are followed for sickness and exclusion. We use redirection and teach problem solving skills so that the children can learn to solve their own problems.

Our Program

The CDC is a licensed child care facility (#23353) serving up to 120 children, ages 6 weeks through the year prior to kindergarten. We are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM and operate year-round, with our school year running from August to August.

Our program utilizes The Creative Curriculum, providing hands-on learning experiences that support each child’s growth and development. We maintain strong communication with families through a dedicated app used for parent communication, lesson plans, and daily reports.

Spiritual development is an important part of our program. Children attend chapel once a month led by the Ministerial Staff. Teachers incorporate weekly Bible stories, related activities, and daily prayer into the classroom routine.

Enrichment programs are available for children ages 3 and older, offering additional opportunities to explore and develop new skills.

All children are given the opportunity to rest each day from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. We maintain a formalized emergency plan, which is detailed in our Parent Handbook.

We provide hot lunch two days per week and two snacks daily. Our four-week rotating menu ensures children are exposed to a variety of nutritious foods.

Each child is evaluated twice per year using the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) screening tool. Results are shared with parents during biannual conferences, along with samples of the child’s classwork and artwork, allowing families to track developmental progress and celebrate growth.
